Who can use measure.expert
- measure.expert is for businesses only. We don't sell to consumers. When you register, you confirm you're acting for your trade, business or profession.
- Your own terms of purchase don't apply to us unless we've agreed to them in writing.
Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your login details secure, and for making sure your users do the same.
- You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, including anything your users do.
- Logins are personal. Two people can't share one seat. You can reassign a seat to someone else when the change is permanent.
- Don't exceed the seats in your tier. If you do, we may charge for the extra seats at our list price.
- Remove access promptly when someone leaves your organisation.
Your trial
- Only the Individual Lite tier comes with a trial. It lasts 14 days. The trial has no allowance of its own: auto-scans you use during it count towards your first paid month. We ask for payment details to start it, but we don't charge you during the trial. Every other tier is charged from the day you subscribe.
- If you don't cancel before the trial ends, it becomes a paid Individual Lite subscription, and we charge you on that day. We'll email you 3 days beforehand with the tier, the price and how to cancel.
- Cancel any time during the trial from your account settings. Nothing is charged and access ends when the trial period ends.
- One trial per business. We may refuse, limit or end a trial at any time — particularly if trials are being taken repeatedly through different accounts. When you can take another trial is set out in our pricing overview.
Auto-scans and what they cover
- Uploading a document costs you nothing. An auto-scan counts when you select it for processing.
- One auto-scan buys one run of automatic detection. We store that result and keep showing it to you for as long as your subscription runs — including in later months — at no further cost, unless you remove the document it belongs to.
- Once a sheet has been scanned, you can view it, measure it, correct it, re-measure it, change its rooms and surfaces, and export it as often as you like. None of that uses more allowance.
- Running auto-scan again on a sheet of the same document that's already been scanned doesn't use another auto-scan.
- Scanning further sheets from a document you've already uploaded uses one auto-scan each. If you delete a document and upload it again, it's treated as a new document, so scanning its sheets uses new auto-scans. Deleting a document doesn't refund auto-scans already used.
- Your allowance resets each billing period. Unused auto-scans don't carry over and aren't refunded. When you run out, you can't scan new sheets until the next period starts — everything you've already scanned stays fully available.
- Extra auto-scans can't be bought separately right now. If you need more, upgrade your tier.
- Storage and project counts aren't metered, but we expect fair use. If your usage goes well beyond comparable customers, we'll contact you and work something out before we do anything.
Measurements are yours to check
- measure.expert is a tool for working out dimensions and quantities from drawings. It is not a surveying service, not a certified or legally verified measuring instrument, and not a substitute for measuring on site. It gives you working values, not certified measurements.
- What you get out depends on what you put in — the scale you set or confirm, the sheets you pick, the lines and boundaries you draw or adjust, the rooms you define, the surfaces you assign. We don't know the building and we can't check any of that. Those inputs are your responsibility.
- We don't warrant any particular detection rate, any particular accuracy, or that the Service is fit for the specific job you have in mind. How well detection works depends heavily on the quality and origin of the drawing file.
- Check every value before you use it — and always before you put it in a quote, a calculation, a tender, a contract, an invoice or a material order. The original drawing or the on-site measurement is what counts, never our output.
- Every commercial decision you make from our results — how you price a bid, what you tender, what you order, what you invoice — is yours, on your account and at your risk. We are not party to your contracts with your own clients and take no responsibility for them.
- If someone else brings a claim against us because of results you used — your client, your principal, your contractor — you'll cover it, including reasonable legal costs. This doesn't apply where the claim comes down to intent or wilful recklessness on our side.
- Our exports carry a note saying all this. Don't remove it when you pass results to anyone else.
Payment, tier changes and refunds
- Prices are in our pricing overview and exclude VAT. We offer EUR and CHF. Your price is fixed in the currency you booked for the whole of your term — we don't convert and we don't adjust for exchange rates mid-term.
- Paddle sells our subscriptions. Paddle.com Market Limited — incorporated in England and Wales, company number 8172165, registered office at 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom — is the merchant of record: they take the payment, issue your invoice and handle VAT. Their terms apply to that part, and where they conflict with ours on payment, invoicing, tax or refunds, theirs win: paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms.
- You pay in advance for each billing period.
- Upgrade during a period and we charge the difference pro rata, effective immediately. Downgrade and it takes effect at the start of your next period.
- Refunds. If you're not happy with the Service, ask us within 14 days of a charge and we'll refund it. After 14 days, charges aren't refundable — we don't refund pro rata if you cancel mid-term, and unused auto-scans aren't refunded separately. Paddle processes the refund as the seller and may also refund at their own discretion under their policy. Your statutory rights over defects are untouched.
- If we change prices, we'll tell you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Don't object within that time and the new price applies. Object and either of us can end the subscription when the change would have taken effect.
- If you don't pay, we'll remind you and give you a reasonable deadline. After that we may suspend access.
Cancellation and termination
- Cancel from your account settings, or in writing. Cancelling stops the renewal — it doesn't cut short the period you've already paid for, and you keep access until that period ends.
- When your subscription ends, your access stops immediately. There's no grace period afterward — export what you need before it ends, not after. We delete your data from our systems within 60 days of that point, unless the law requires us to keep something.
- If we discontinue the Service entirely, we'll give you at least 90 days' notice so you can export your data, and delete everything we hold within 60 days after that.
- Either of us can end the agreement for good cause. For us that includes serious misuse of the Service or breach of your obligations above.
- We may suspend access immediately if we need to protect the security of our systems, stop an ongoing breach, or comply with the law. We'll tell you as soon as we can and restore access once the reason has gone. Suspension doesn't pause what you owe us, unless the cause was ours.
The Service, uptime and support
- Your use of the Service is at your own risk. We provide it "as is" and "as available". We don't offer a service level agreement, but we take uptime seriously.
- Some things are outside our reasonable control: natural disasters, war, industrial action, network and power failures, sustained attacks on infrastructure, acts of public authorities. Neither of us is liable for what those cause. If one of them stops you from using the Service, we'll pause your fees for as long as it does — you don't pay for what you can't use. If one lasts more than 60 days, either of us can end the agreement. None of this excuses you from paying what you already owed before the event started.
- We take the Service down for maintenance from time to time and announce it in advance where we can.
- Support is by email in English, Mon–Fri, 09:00–17:00 CET/CEST, excluding Dutch public holidays. We usually reply within one business day.
- Trials come with no uptime or support commitment. Nor do features we've marked "beta" or "preview" — we may change or drop those at any time.
- We keep developing the Service and may add or change features. If we materially reduce what it does, we'll tell you 30 days ahead and you can leave when the change lands.
- We may use subcontractors. Their work is our responsibility, same as our own.
Your data
- Your drawings, measurements and exports stay yours. We only get the rights we need to run the Service for you.
- Where we process personal data for you, our Data Processing Agreement applies. We act on your instructions and nothing else.
- Your drawings, measurements and account data are processed in the EU/EEA. We build the Service, run it and answer your support ourselves — none of that is outsourced. The infrastructure underneath it comes from providers in the EU/EEA, who process only on our instructions and are listed as sub-processors in our Data Processing Agreement. Payment and invoicing data is handled by Paddle in the United Kingdom, which the European Commission has found to offer an adequate level of protection.
- Drawings often carry names and addresses in title blocks. We don't extract them, index them, or use them for any purpose of our own — though our team does see them when reviewing drawings as described under "Improving detection". Where you don't need those details, strip them before uploading.
- We treat your drawings and project details as confidential, and keep doing so for three years after we're done. You do the same with anything of ours.
- Export your data any time from the Service.
Improving detection
- We use what we learn from how the Service is used — geometry, your corrections to our detection, confidence scores, usage statistics — to run and improve it.
- If detection fails on your drawing and you tell us, we look at that specific drawing to fix it. That's the only situation where our team reviews the contents of a drawing — triggered by a reported problem with your file, not a general review of uploaded drawings. A fix made this way may also help detection on future uploads.
- We don't use your drawing files to train any AI model, and we don't pass drawing files to anyone outside our group.
Ownership and content
- You warrant you're entitled to upload what you upload, and that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights — architects' and designers' copyright in particular.
- The Service is for floor plans and similar construction drawings. Don't upload other material — personnel files, contracts, tenant lists, or anything containing health or other special-category data. We haven't built or assessed the Service for that.
- Don't upload anything unlawful, harmful or infected, and don't use the Service in ways that damage our systems. No bulk automated uploading outside the interfaces we provide.
- If someone claims against us because you broke any of those, you'll cover it, including reasonable legal costs.
- We own the Service and everything in it. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to use it for your own business while your subscription runs. No source code, no copying, no reverse engineering, no reselling — beyond what the law lets you do regardless.
- If anyone claims our Service infringes their rights, tell us promptly and let us handle it. We'll cover you, including reasonable legal costs. We may then change the Service, license what's needed, or end the agreement and refund the unused part. This doesn't apply where the problem came from your content or from using the Service against these Terms.
Liability
- Our total liability is capped, per contract year, at what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem, and never less than twelve months' fees at your tier's annual-billing rate.
- We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost profit, lost contracts, lost goodwill, losses from wrong calculations, quotes, tenders or invoices, or extra costs on material orders. That includes where those came from results the Service produced.
- For data loss, we're liable only up to what it would have cost to restore from proper backups you should have been keeping.
- These limits protect our people and subcontractors too, and apply in full to trials and to beta or preview features.
- They don't apply to intent or wilful recklessness by our management, or where the law says a limit isn't allowed.
- Nothing here caps what you owe us under "Measurements are yours to check" or "Ownership and content", and nothing caps what we owe you for third-party IP claims.
- Tell us about defects promptly once you spot them. Claims lapse 24 months after you know about the damage, and 36 months after it happened at the latest.
Law and disputes
- Dutch law applies. The CISG and conflict-of-law rules don't.
- Disputes go to the courts of Amsterdam.
- These Terms are in English. Any translation is for convenience and isn't binding.
- You can only set off against claims we don't dispute or that a court has confirmed.
- You need our consent to transfer this agreement. We can transfer it in a merger or sale of the business.
- If a provision turns out to be invalid, the rest still stands, and we'll replace it with the closest valid equivalent.
- "Measurements are yours to check", "Ownership and content", "Liability", "Your data" and this section survive the agreement ending, along with anything you already owe us.
- These Terms take effect when first published and replace earlier versions. The version in force when you order is the one that applies.
